Residency Outreach Co-Chairs
Rigoberto AyalaHey everyone! My name is Rigo Ayala and I’m a P2 at UHCOP. I earned my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University, which sparked my interest in learning more about the different interactions medications have inside the body. I joined SSHP to explore the many paths within pharmacy and to start building a strong foundation for residency. As your Residency Outreach Co-Chair, I hope to deliver meaningful opportunities for students to connect with residency programs, learn about different career paths in pharmacy, and gain the skills needed to stand out as future residency candidates. Excited to serve this year and connect with you all!

Kaelyn AlexanderMy name is Kaelyn and i'm from Lafayette, Louisiana! I chose to pursue pharmacy so I can be an accessible resource for patients. It's really important that they feel taken care of throughout their whole journey on medication whether it's a short term illness or a chronic disease state. Pharmacists are able to be there with the patient throughout it all to ensure their medication if efficacious and safe. I joined SSHP to have a chance at a leadership role in an area I am definitely interested, residency! Through this organization i've been able to network with businesses around Houston in order to create unique service ideas for our chapter. My goal for this year is to continue to create and foster relationships with other health care providers and people within the community. I want to build a strong group of people around me that will help me become a better pharmacist. Outside of pharmacy school i love to play tennis, try new food, and watch reality tv! Excited for a great year with UH!

Professional Development Co-Chairs
Estrella FloresHi everyone! My name is Estrella Flores and I am a P3 student from Illinois, but grew up in Houston, TX. I chose to pursue pharmacy because while working as a pharmacy technician, I saw how meaningful my pharmacist’s role was in his patients’ lives and the unique access they had to his care—it inspired me to follow this path, with the goal of making the same kind of difference for patients one day. My favorite part about being involved in SSHP is the supportive community and the opportunities to connect with pharmacists and peers who share a passion for health-system pharmacy. Through SSHP, I’ve gained valuable leadership experience, learned more about residency preparation, and connected with mentors who have guided me in my journey. As Professional Development Chair, my goal is to help students feel more confident about their career paths by connecting them with mentors, resources, and experiences that will prepare them for post-graduate training. Outside of pharmacy, I enjoy traveling, reading, and hanging out with my friends, family and my bulldog, Pakkun. I’m excited to see all that SSHP has in store for us this year!

Tai NguyenI'm Tai Nguyen, a P2 pharmacy student from the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. My passion for pharmacy grew during my three years working in an emergency room, where I saw pharmacists play a critical role in patient care. Collaborating with healthcare teams in such a dynamic setting inspired me to pursue this field and contribute to improving lives. SSHP has been incredible in showing me the diverse opportunities in clinical pharmacy and fostering connections between students and professionals. I love how SSHP’s passion creates a supportive community. This year, I aim to deepen my involvement, expand my clinical knowledge, and help strengthen our network. Outside of pharmacy, I enjoy cooking playing with my cat, which keeps me balanced and energized. I am excited to be a part of SSHP and look forward to grow alongside with this passionate community!

Fundraising Co-Chairs
George HosniHey everyone! My name is George Hosni, and I’m a third-year pharmacy student. I was born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, and moved to the U.S. in 2020 during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. I chose pharmacy because I’m interested in chemistry and healthcare, and I see pharmacists as the drug experts in healthcare. Knowing how drugs work is key to improving patient care and achieving the best outcomes. I joined SSHP because it helps connect students with residency opportunities through guest speakers and workshops, and it’s also helped me discover my interest in clinical pharmacy through the clinical case skills competition. As Fundraising Co-Chair, I’m excited to raise SSHP’s visibility on campus. When I’m not studying you will find me binge-watching TV shows, playing video games, hitting the gym, or playing basketball. I’m excited for all the experiences this year will bring especially the chance to work with such a great team!

Medication Safety Sr. ChairAllison ChunHi everyone! My name is Allison and I am a P2. I am from Katy, TX and went to UH to complete my pre-requisites before entering UHCOP. I decided on pursuing pharmacy after working as a pharmacy technician in my senior year of high school, and thought it matched my goals of being an expert in my field of study while also having a great impact on patient health. I decided to join SSHP as a P1 to learn more about health-system pharmacy, and I stayed because I truly believe we help connect students to their future careers. One of my favourite events is the residency mentoring social, since it provides a great opportunity to talk to different health-systems and gain a wider perspective of what pharmacists can do and achieve in their careers. In my free time, I’m often watching a new drama or getting boba with friends. My goal as med. safety senior chair this year is to enjoy my time with the rest of the team and help plan and execute some great events for this year!
