Immediate Past PresidentAriba AbbasHello everyone! My name is Ariba Abbas and I am currently a P4 at UHCOP. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Houston. I am interested in ambulatory care pharmacy and would like to pursue a residency in the future. I love to travel in my free time and spend time with my family and friends. As Past President this year, I hope to work together with our team to provide our members with numerous opportunities to learn more about residency through our residency preparation series. I would also make sure that our members are aware of all the amazing career development and networking opportunities SSHP has to offer. Along with that, I’m looking to push our SSHP chapter to reach national recognition through the help of our wonderful team and members. I am looking forward to another great year with SSHP!

PresidentCatherine VuHello! My name is Catherine and I'm excited to be serving as President for 2021-2022 as I begin my P3 year. My journey toward pharmacy has been a continuation from my time at The University of Texas at Austin (Hook 'em!). I graduated with a B.S. in Nutrition and minored in Health Communications because I love food and making genuine connections through health. More importantly, I joined the SSHP team to engage with my long-term goals of being in health system pharmacy and to help other members do the same through our events. As President, my goal is to work with our team to provide members in SSHP with educational resources, networking and professional development opportunities available to better prepare for residency. My vision for SSHP this year is to diversify the opportunities the team will help provide and to reach national recognition. I'm eager to meet you all and look forward to this year with SSHP!

President ElectAmy ShumHello everyone! My name is Amy Shum, and I am currently a P2 at UHCOP. I received my bachelor's degree at Texas A&M University, and I am beyond excited to be serving as President-Elect for 2021-2022! I joined SSHP immediately after starting pharmacy school due to my interest in transplant and ambulatory care pharmacy, and I knew I wanted to join a team that is just as passionate as I am about health-system pharmacy. As President-Elect this year, I would like to serve as a resource to my peers as we navigate our way through pharmacy school and residency preparation. With the help of our wonderful team, I hope to continue providing numerous events to our members such as our residency preparation series, mentorship programs, networking events, and much more! Pharmacy may be a small world, but I hope SSHP can help students explore the many different career pathways out there and achieve their own personal and professional goals. I look forward to meeting you all and having another amazing year with SSHP!

VP of CommunicationsAlexis NguyenHi everyone! My name is Alexis Nguyen, and I am currently a P3 at UHCOP. I was born and raised in Houston, so after leaving the best city in the world to finish my bachelor's at the University of Texas at Austin, I was super ready to be back! This will be my third year holding an officer position with SSHP (P1 Liaison, then Treasurer -- so reach out if you have any questions!), and I am excited to help bring to you all what this organization has given me. My goal as VP of Communications is to advocate for our profession by bringing to you guys a national-recognition-worthy National Pharmacy Week and PAI Week with the rest of the SSHP officer team. My current interests in pharmacy are critical care (more specifically, cardiovascular), psychiatry, and pain & palliative care, and my interests outside of pharmacy include reading about personal finance and finding ways to fund vacations through reward points. I look forward to meeting you all!

SecretaryIsha PervaizHi everyone! My name is Isha Pervaiz and I’m a P3 at UHCOP this year. I completed my Bachelors in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Houston (Go Coogs!).The reason to why I chose pharmacy was mainly because I wanted to play a more active and accessible role in delivering personalized care in the community. As of right now I’m keeping my options open in regards to the field of pharmacy that I would like to pursue, however, currently I’m interested in ambulatory care. Last year, I had the opportunity to serve as SSHP's Orientation Co-Chair. With the position of secretary this year, my goals are to send emails on a timely and organized manner that're easy to navigate and understand, to be a reliable source for SSHP members and officers and to expose members to different fields of pharmacy and residency programs. Looking forward to another great year with SSHP!

Adam SiddiqueAntibiotic Awareness Senior Chair
Hey everyone! My name is Adam Siddique and I am currently in my second year of pharmacy school. I'm originally from Oklahoma where I attended undergrad at OU, but I decided that I wanted to experience somewhere new for the next step of my education. I've loved my time in Houston since moving here, and its safe to say that I've fallen in love with its amazing food scene that never ceases to amaze me. As a whole, pharmacy school has already taught me more than I could ever imagine, but I have SSHP to thank for the leaps and bounds I've made in my professional development thus far. As such, I am thankful and excited for the opportunity to serve as the senior Antimicrobial Awareness chair this year. Although we may not always realize it, our daily survival depends on our understanding of the delicate balance we maintain with the microbial world. During my time in this position I hope to make that evident to you all and look forward to providing education about this topic.
